Clos Mimi 2004 Shell Creek Vineyard Syrah

The 2004 Syrah Shell Creek Vineyard (17.5% alcohol) will either turn out to be utterly profound or will fall off the cliff. Throughout my thirty years of tasting experience, I have never tasted anything like this cuvee, and I have no idea what it will do in the future. The wine smells ripe, and does not taste hot, but at present it is just an unformed mass of grape juice. I admire the individualistic effort, and it could turn out to be something special that lasts an amazingly long time, but only time will tell. - Robert Parker
